Guide rail systems allow for safely minimising the width of an aisle while still allowing forktruck operators efficient movement around racking in the warehouse space.
Guide rails are commonly used where space is limited to maintain productivity levels and to improve health and safety.
The steel rails act as a guide to keep the fork truck from coming in contact with the racking. The guide rail is secured to the floor in the aisle adjacent to the racking. At the most vulnerable entry points of each aisle, the rails can be tapered or radius to assist in guiding the forklift into the main storage areas.
The use of guide rails means that the forklift operator can safely maintain travel speeds as he is able to fully concentrate on the operational and hydraulic elements of the job.

The rails are supplied pre-drilled so they can be safely secured in position, the fixing hole position are designed in a closely spaced formation at the entry point of the working aisle, as this area carries a higher risk of collision and accident. Further down the aisle, the fixings are more regularly spaced.
