Drive in pallet racking is ideal for storing large amounts of the same type of stock (SKU’s), either in ‘rows’ or throughout in bulk.
Drive in pallet racking is a high-density storage solution particularly suited to businesses that hold large amounts of stock that is of the same type. It is ideal for businesses that stock up on goods and ship them out in bulk. For low velocity inventory where stock remains static for long periods of time, drive in racking can offer cost savings to businesses by way of reduced storage footprint.

Rather than placing pallets onto beams as would be the case with a traditional pallet racking system, ‘drive in’ racking involves loading pallets on to front to back rails. Forklifts enter the storage lanes of ‘drive in’ racking to access pallets in a first in, last out (FILO) system. It is also possible to operate a double access or drive through system where goods are accessible from both sides of the racking system which means a first in, first out (FIFO) system may be operated instead. This FIFO approach can be ideal for pre-assembling loads.

Automated Pallet Shuttle
Pallet Shuttle is a high-density compact storage solution that uses powered shuttles to automatically carry loads into the rack. The storage concept and space utilisation are very similar to that of Drive-In Racking but the Mechanical Handling Equipment (Fork Lift Truck) doesn’t need to enter the lanes. Instead the Pallet Shuttle(s) are remotely controlled by an operator. Hence, there is an optimum use of storage space and workplace with access to every level no matter how deep the lane is. Damage and accident rates are also reduced.
This system can work either as FIFO or as LIFO, even in freezer chambers, with temperatures of up to -30°C.
This pallet shuttle system reinforces logistical capacity qualitatively and quantitatively, since it automates the handling of goods on pallets; it is also possible to control the inventory through a system of sensors which count the stored pallets.
