Safety is critical in material handling, which is why the HSE and other professional guidelines specify that a double or dual gate system is required on a mezzanine floor, as swing gates or removable chains and bars offer insufficient protection for workers.

There are a number of important consideration when designing a pallet gate such as the required width to suit the type of stock being moved, the available height on the platform edge and whether the pallet gate is for a single or multi-tier mezzanine floor.
