While flooring grade chipboard or particle board is the standard mezzanine floor decking option and is found on a large percentage of our mezzanine structures, Space Productiv offer a full spectrum of decking types and our experts are on hand every step of the way to advise on everything from load capacity to deflection and reverberation considerations.
Particle Boards and OSB Mezzanine Decking
This type of decking is found in almost all mezzanine settings but in particular in warehouse storage and industrial settings. With 38mm high-density particleboard offering loading of up to 1,000kg/m2 and with moisture resistant and anti-slip options available, it is by far the most popular choice. OSB (Oriented Strand Board) has a natural moisture resistance and can offer higher loading capabilities.
Composite Mezzanine Decking
Composite decking comes in two varieties; a steel and wood composite deck that offers higher load capabilities than board alone and has greater longevity, and a steel and concrete composite that offers the highest load capabilities alongside reduced deflection and reverberation, making it ideal for office mezzanines. A concrete composite is extremely durable and is particularly useful in heavy industrial and manufacturing settings where additional structural support is of benefit.
Metal Mezzanine Decking
Durbar or durbar style plate decking is the most widely used metal decking, featuring a raised pattern for grip and a high load capability of up to 3000kg/m2. The anti-slip properties of Durbar or durbar style decking makes it an excellent decking option for mezzanine staircases and access walkways as well as offering robust, long-life performance under some of the most extreme settings.
For outdoor settings, we recommend heavy duty mesh or forge welded grating as the preferred decking solution due to its weatherproof and robust properties. This type of decking is also particularly useful in environments that require a high force absorption or increased levels of ventilation, such as high process manufacturing.
Both durbar and forge welded decking is available galvanised for additional weather protection and excellent lifespan
